Dr. Dave Woynarowski, MD

Board-certified internist · 20+ years in clinical practice · Co-author, The Immortality Edge (Wiley)

A longevity doctor who will tell your audience what doesn’t work — including the things he sells.

Twenty-plus years of internal medicine, a master’s in physiology, and one of the first 30 physicians worldwide certified in Age Management Medicine. He talks about cellular aging the way a clinician does: what the evidence actually supports, where the marketing runs ahead of it, and what he’s changed his mind about.

Four episodes, ready to record

Episodes he can deliver

Not topic areas — actual episodes, with the arc already worked out. Take one as written, mix two, or ignore all of them and bring your own; the last one is there because good hosts want a guest who’ll disagree with the field.

The Cellular Energy Crisis

Why Americans are exhausted in a way that caffeine cannot touch — and what’s actually happening inside the cell.

“Caffeine produces exactly zero molecules of ATP. America’s morning ritual is a perceptual trick on a problem that’s actually cellular.”

Your audience will learn

  • Why fatigue at 55 is a different physiological problem than fatigue at 25
  • What mitochondria actually do, explained without a biochemistry lecture
  • The difference between feeling alert and producing energy — and why stimulants only deliver the first
  • What the evidence supports for mitochondrial function, and what it doesn’t

Telomeres, Senescent Cells, and the Senolytic Frontier

A co-author of one of the first popular books on telomeres explains what the science actually says in 2026 — including what he got wrong in 2010.

“Influencers call them zombie cells. They’re innocent cells causing inflammation — and some can be talked back to healthy.”

Your audience will learn

  • What telomeres are, why the 2009 Nobel Prize mattered, and what the field has learned since
  • Why senescent cells aren’t villains, and what “senolytic” actually means
  • Why lifestyle change alone doesn’t lengthen telomeres in most people — a claim he’s made repeatedly against his own commercial interest
  • How to read a telomere test result, and whether it’s worth taking one

The Inflammation Nobody Diagnoses

Most adults are running a low-grade inflammatory state that shows up on no lab report and gets treated as fourteen separate conditions.

“We’re running an omega-6:omega-3 ratio of 20:1. Every meal cooked in canola oil is an inflammatory event the body can’t ignore.”

Your audience will learn

  • What “inflammaging” means and why it links conditions that look unrelated
  • The one dietary ratio he’d change first, and why it outranks nearly every fashionable intervention
  • Why telomere-driven inflammation runs on a different pathway than diet-and-sleep inflammation
  • What to ask a doctor for, in plain language
The contrarian one

What I Was Wrong About

Twenty-plus years of practice, a supplement company, and a running list of things he had to walk back.

Your audience will learn

  • Why he refused to sell a probiotic for twenty years — and what changed his mind
  • Why he won’t call his own telomere product a proven telomerase activator
  • What he thinks the longevity field is currently overselling
  • Where he still doesn’t know, and why saying so is the job

Note to hosts: This one is the reason to book him. If you want the version of this conversation where he defends the industry, he’s the wrong guest.

The part other guests leave out

Where he makes money, and how he behaves on air

Dr. Dave formulates and sells supplements at The Longevity Edge. That’s his business, and you should assume your audience already suspects it — most people assume it about any doctor on a podcast.

  • Product mentions are not a condition of the appearance. He follows the host’s lead.
  • Two of the four episodes above involve no product mention at all.
  • If an affiliate arrangement or a coupon code for your audience is useful to you, he’s open to it. If it isn’t, he won’t raise it again.
  • You hold final edit. Cut anything.
  • Every substantive claim he makes comes with a citation, in advance.

For the host to read

“My guest today formulates and sells nutritional supplements. Nothing in this episode is sponsored, and I’ll tell you if anything he mentions pays either of us.”

Twenty-six words. It’s already written so you don’t have to think about it — and disclosure lands better coming from the host than from the guest.

David Woynarowski, MD — “Dr. Dave” — is a board-certified internist and age-management physician with 20+ years in clinical practice. A Temple medical school graduate who taught internal medicine residents at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, he was among the first 30 physicians worldwide certified in Age Management Medicine and co-authored The Immortality Edge (Wiley) with cell-aging researcher Michael Fossel, MD, PhD. He now formulates supplements at The Longevity Edge.

250 words

David Woynarowski, MD — better known as “Dr. Dave” — is a board-certified internist and age-management physician who has spent 20+ years translating cellular-aging science into things patients can actually do.

He earned his MD at Temple, completed internal medicine training and a chief residency, joined his father’s practice, and went on to teach residents at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he won the Residents Teaching Award two years running. He holds a master’s in human physiology and was among the first 30 physicians worldwide to be certified in Age Management Medicine.

His father’s death in 2000 — from a cascade of falls, undiagnosed osteoporosis and hospital infection that Dr. Dave has publicly called a failure “both as a Son and a Doctor” — moved him out of conventional practice and into the biology of aging. He became a certified member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine in 2002, was among the earliest US physicians to work clinically with the telomerase activator TA-65, and in 2010 co-authored The Immortality Edge (Wiley) with cell-aging researcher Michael Fossel, MD, PhD, and Greta Blackburn — one of the first books to explain telomere biology to a general audience, published the year after the field won the Nobel Prize. He later served as Chief Medical Officer of BioStem Technologies and co-authored a peer-reviewed review on stem cells and inflammaging.

He now formulates supplements at The Longevity Edge, where he is best known for saying plainly which ones the evidence doesn’t yet support. He is a marathoner and lifelong lifter who trains in jiu-jitsu and catch wrestling.

Introduction, written to be read aloud

~55 words, ~20 seconds

“My guest today is Dr. Dave Woynarowski. He’s a board-certified internist — twenty-plus years of patients — and he co-wrote one of the first books that explained telomeres to people who don’t have a biology degree. He also runs a supplement company, which makes it interesting that he spends most of his time telling people what doesn’t work.”

Questions hosts have gotten good answers to

Steal these, ignore them, or push back on them. He doesn’t need questions in advance — this list exists to save you prep time, not to script the conversation. Number seven is one he can get wrong.

  1. You co-wrote a book about telomeres in 2010. What does the field know now that you didn’t then?
  2. Caffeine doesn’t produce any ATP. So what is coffee actually doing to me every morning?
  3. You refused to sell a probiotic for twenty years. Why, and what changed?
  4. What’s the most oversold idea in longevity right now?
  5. You’ve said lifestyle change alone won’t lengthen telomeres. That’s not what most people in your industry say. Why do you?
  6. What did your father’s passing change about how you practice?
  7. You sell supplements and you’re on a podcast talking about supplements. Why should anyone believe you? The hard one
  8. If someone listening is 60 and starting from zero, what’s the first thing they change?

Common questions

Does he charge?

No. He doesn’t charge for appearances and doesn’t pay for them.

Will he pitch his products?

Not unless it fits the conversation — product mentions aren’t a condition of the appearance, and he follows your lead. Two of the four episodes above involve no product mention at all. If an affiliate arrangement or a coupon code for your audience is useful to you, he’s open to it.

Does he need questions in advance?

No. There’s a list of starting points above if it saves you prep time, but he doesn’t need or want a script.

How long, and how does recording work?

60 minutes is the sweet spot; 90 works. Video or audio-only. He’s set up for Riverside, Zencastr, SquadCast, Zoom or StreamYard, and can provide a local backup track.
