Your Brain and Lion’s Mane!

In addition to several other very useful components, my new Brain Formula, Brain Force 1 contains the Lion’s Mane “mushroom” as a major component.

There are many documented benefits to Lion’s Mane and like many fungi, it is helpful on a systemic basis rather than just for one specific thing.

But it has been studied for it’s potential Brain healing effects and even in the context of Alzheimer Disease.

At the cellular level the most interesting effect documented so far is that of nerve regeneration.  Most dementias, strokes and other nerve and brain injuries require regeneration to replace sick, dead or dying tissue.

The primary mediator of this process is called simply NGF (nerve growth factor). NGFs are responsible for regrowing healthy new nervous tissue and bolstering nerve cells’ resistance to toxic exposure.

Under the microscope and in the lab several things happen.  I mentioned the word “mitochondria” yesterday and intimated its role in cancer as well as neuro degenerative disease like Alzheimer’s.

When toxic events or diseases challenge nerve cells there is invariably a hit on the mitochondrial power houses that allow the cell to do what it does.  You can measure changes in the electrical potential across both the mitochondrial membrane and the cell membrane.  You can see the cells shrink!

When treated with Lion’s Mane you can see the cells return to normal volume and appearance as well as a return to “normal” energy generation.

You can see new connections from cell to cell reaching out to each other.  This appears to be the basis not only of new neural pathways in the brain, but of memory and cognition as well.

Finally you can see the number of sick, dead and dying cells reduce and the number of healthy cells increase!

I’ve included a reference below for you if you want more detail but the bottom line is this featured ingredient in Brain Force 1 is a winner for brain health!
